Onboard via API: Graded (V2)

Verify individual Customers at a level, and request a higher level when they need higher limits.

With Graded Onboarding, each individual Customer is verified at a level, and each level has its own limits. If a Customer needs to transfer higher amounts, you request a higher level and send the required documents for review.

Example

  • Anna lives in Washington. She signs up and gives only her nationality and state.
  • She's verified at Level 1 within seconds, and can pay by debit card, up to $2,999 in total.
  • Later she wants to send more, so she adds her address, SSN and passport.
  • She's verified at Level 2, and can use every payment method, up to $9,999 a day.

The Levels

  • Level 1: a quick start for US residents.
  • Level 2: full verification. Customers outside the US start here.
  • Level 3: higher limits, after a manual review.

Limits

Each level has its own limits. A higher level raises them.

  • Level 1: $2,999 in total, for the Customer's whole time at Level 1. Debit card only.
  • Level 2: $9,999 per transfer and per day, and $299,970 per month. All payment methods.
  • Level 3: no limit per transfer, and $50,000 per day and $1,000,000 per month by default. Harbor sets the limits for each Customer during the review.

On-ramp and off-ramp limits are counted separately. Each payment method also has its own limits, and the lower one applies. For details, see Customer Levels.

When to Use It

  • Graded Onboarding: some of your Customers need higher limits than others, and you want to request them per Customer.
  • Standard Onboarding: you onboard businesses, or you verify every Customer once with all their information. See Onboard via API: Standard (V1).

Notes

  • Graded Onboarding is for individuals only, through the API.
