Transaction Limits
The limits that apply to your customers' transfers.
Each transfer must stay within two types of limits: tier limits and payment method limits. If a transfer goes over either one, it is rejected.
Two Types of Limits
Tier limits are about the customer. They depend on the customer's level (1, 2 or 3). The more a customer is verified, the higher their limits. To raise them, upgrade the customer to a higher level.
Payment method limits are about how the customer pays. They depend on the payment method (debit card, ACH Pull, RTP or wire). Some methods are riskier, for example card payments can be charged back, so they have lower limits. These limits don't change with the customer's level.
Example: a Level 2 customer wants to pay USD 2,000 by debit card.
- Tier limit: Level 2 allows up to USD 9,999 per transaction. ✅
- Payment method limit: debit card allows up to USD 500 per payment. ❌
The transfer is rejected. The same customer could pay USD 2,000 by ACH Pull, because both limits allow it.
Tier Limits
Tier limits depend on the customer's level.
| Level | Per transaction | Daily | Monthly | Lifetime | Payment methods |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | USD 2,999 | USD 2,999 | USD 2,999 | USD 2,999 | Debit card only |
| Level 2 | USD 9,999 | USD 9,999 | USD 299,970 | No limit | All |
| Level 3 | No limit | USD 50,000 | USD 1,000,000 | No limit | All |
The Level 3 amounts are defaults. Compliance can change them for each customer.
For more about levels, see Customer Levels.
Payment Method Limits
Payment method limits depend on how the customer pays. They apply to individual customers only.
These limits are enforced for on-ramp transfers. For off-ramp transfers, they are shown in the quote for information only.
| Payment method | Per transaction | Daily | Weekly | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
DEBIT_CARD | USD 500 | USD 9,999 | USD 25,000 | USD 50,000 |
ACH_PULL | USD 9,999 | USD 9,999 | USD 25,000 | USD 50,000 |
RTP | USD 9,999 | USD 9,999 | No limit | No limit |
DOMESTIC_WIRE | No limit | No limit | No limit | No limit |
V1 and V2 Customers
Both types of limits apply to all individual customers, whether they were onboarded with V1 or V2.
- V1 (non-graded): treated as Level 3.
- V2 (graded): at the level they were approved for.
Quotes
A quote does not check the tier limits. They are checked when you create the transfer, so a transfer can still be rejected after a successful quote.
Resets
- Weekly limits reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
- Monthly limits reset on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC.
On-ramp and off-ramp are counted separately.
